A Christian girl accused of blasphemy over the burning of the Koran has been acquitted by a court in Pakistan, a defence lawyer said today.

Abdul Hameed said the order in Islamabad exonerated his client due to a lack of evidence and dismissed the charges against her, concluding that they were based on hearsay and incriminating material which was planted in the girl’s possession.
