University rescinds Savile doctorate

The University of Bedfordshire has stripped Jimmy Savile of his honorary doctorate.

They said the award was given in good faith in 2009 to recognise his charitable fund raising efforts.

Their statement said that in light of the current serious allegations the doctorate should be rescinded.
