BBC to contact police over Savile allegations

The BBC said today that it is to make direct contact with police to provide full support over any allegations that have been made about abuse involving Jimmy Savile.

A spokesman for the BBC said today: ``A number of serious and disturbing allegations have been made over the past few days about the sexual abuse of teenage girls by Jimmy Savile.
