Thousands of people have taken to the streets in Moscow today in the first anti-Putin demonstration in months.

Thousands of people have taken to the streets in Moscow today in the first anti-Putin demonstration in months.

Officials in the Russian capital said at least 25,000 people were expected to attend the event with tensions still running high over the jailing of members of the punk band Pussy Riot.

Smaller protests are expected in Saint Petersburg and in other cities across the country.
