White House: Assad has 'disregard for human life'
The White House says reports of a massacre near Damascus are the latest evidence of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's "wanton disregard for human life."
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says up to 320 bodies have been found in the town of Daraya.
Opposition militants say the killings follow a brutal onslaught of shellings, summary executions and house-to-house raids by Government troops.
A spokesperson for the US national security council says it has become more urgent for the international community to press President Assad to leave power.
