Firefighters are battling a blaze on the 88th floor of the tower being built to replace New York’s destroyed World Trade Centre.

The fire department says the fire was reported shortly before 8am and no-one was in the building.

The tower is the centrepiece of the construction at the site of the 9/11 attacks. The building is now the tallest in New York.
