Alps avalanche: Missing climbers alive
Police have confirmed that four climbers missing after an avalanche in the French Alps are alive.
Nine people were killed early this morning on Mount Maudit near Chamonix.
The British Foreign Secretary William Hague has sent his deepest condolences to the families of those affected.
Richard Mansfield is a Mountain Guide based in Chamonix - and has said that it is a very popular climb:
"On a busy day over 100 people could be ascending by that route, not all at once but spread over the morning, so it is I would say the second most popular climb to the summit in Mont Blanc in the Chamonix area".
