Teen dies after Thames jump

A 15-year-old boy has died after getting into difficulties after jumping from a bridge into the River Thames in Britain.

Emergency services were called at about 8.30pm yesterday after the teenager jumped from Donnington Bridge, Weirs Lane, Oxford, into the river but did not resurface.

An extensive search operation was launched by the fire service and the boy was recovered nearly two hours later.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital (JR2) in Oxford where he was pronounced dead, according to Thames Valley Police.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said that two people who had fallen into the water, including the boy, were taken to hospital while a third was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
