Chile rocked by strong earthquake

A strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake has struck off Chile’s southern coast, but the authorities said it was not felt on land and discounted the possibility of a tsunami.

The US Geological Survey said the quake’s epicentre was 336 miles west-southwest of Castro, Los Lagos.
