A court battle is looming in the US after a 13-year-old boy who learned to play hockey in Ireland was banned from playing the sport at school – for the girls’ team.

Keeling Pilaro, who was raised here, has been told that after two years as a member of the girls’ team in New York, he is now too skilled to qualify for an exemption allowing him to compete with girls next season.
