A black bear who wandered on to a university campus in Colorado fell safely from a tree after being tranquillised and was later relocated to the nearby Rocky Mountains.
State wildlife official Jennifer Churchill said the 200-pound (91-kilogram) male bear was tagged and taken to a remote area of ponderosa pines, oak brush and chokeberry.
The bear has become a celebrity since it wandered around a University of Colorado residence hall in Boulder and climbed a tree on Thursday.
Wildlife officers eventually tranquillised it and the bear dropped from its 15ft high (4.5 metre high) perch on to pads placed on the ground.
It landed on its back before a crowd of students.
Campus police spokesman Ryan Huff called it “a perfect landing”.
