Mother 'had daughter's boyfriend killed", court hears
A mother had her 13-year-old daughter’s boyfriend murdered and then persuaded the teenager to take the blame, a court in Britain heard today.
Gedu Bibi, 47, is accused of having 21-year-old Sumon Miah killed because she disapproved of his relationship with her daughter Shuhina Khanam.
Jurors at the Old Bailey heard that she recruited her lover Lilu Miah, 48, to attack the victim at her home in Walthamstow, east London, in October 2006.
He was hit over the head with a chair leg and died nine days later.
It is claimed that Mrs Bibi persuaded her daughter to tell police that Sumon Miah had come at her with a knife, and she hit him to defend herself.
Her younger brother Fhalak, then 12, was allegedly told to back the story up.
Mrs Bibi and Lilu Miah deny murder and perverting the course of justice.
Lilu Miah’s nephew Dobir Miah, 37, also denies perverting the course of justice for allegedly providing his uncle with a false alibi.
