Investigation into Australian floods blasts dam operator
A review of the emergency response to last year’s deadly floods in Australia said the operator of a major dam that controlled the release of water from a swollen river broke its own rules during the height of the disaster.
The floods that swept across Queensland state in late 2010 and early 2011 killed 35 people, damaged or destroyed 30,000 homes and businesses and left Brisbane, Australia’s third-largest city, under water for days.
