Woman and child found dead in Scotland

Police have launched an investigation after the bodies of a woman and a young child were found in a house in Scotland.

The woman is believed to be in her 30s, and the child around five years old, Lothian and Borders Police said.

Emergency services were called to a house in the Parkhead Grove area of Edinburgh late yesterday afternoon where the bodies were found.

A police spokesman said: “Police in Edinburgh can confirm that they are currently making inquiries into the deaths of two people in the Sighthill area of the city.”

He added: “Inquiries are at a very early stage and there is no further information at this time.”

The area was still cordoned off at 7.20am this morning and officers were at the scene.

An Edinburgh City Council spokesman said: “We are aware of the police investigation and will provide all the assistance we can.”
