Heart bypass surgery for Japanese Emperor

Japan's emperor Akihito underwent heart by-pass surgery today, intended to allow him to lead a healthier, more active life.

Akihito, 78, entered the operating theatre as scheduled for the five-hour operation, the Imperial Household Agency said.
