Bashar al-Assad rejects unity government

Syria has flatly rejected a call for a unity government.

Arab League foreign ministers also want President Bashar al-Assad to hand power over to a deputy.

The regime said the plans violate the nation's sovereignty.

Observers will stay in Syria for another month, but Saudi Arabia has pulled out its monitors, arguing the mission has failed to stop the violence.
