Gingrich defends comments on Palestinians

Republican US presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich said he supported a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians that includes two separate states, but was being historically accurate when he said that Palestinians were an “invented” people.

His comments had infuriated Palestinian officials who accused him of incitement and staging a “cheap stunt” to court the Jewish vote.
