El Baradei ready to lead Egypt

Leading Egyptian democracy advocate Mohamed El Baradei says he is prepared to head a “national salvation” government to steer the country out of its political crisis.

Mr El Baradei’s office released the statement late last night, in advance of plans by Egypt’s protest movement to stage a massive protest in Cairo’s Tahrir Square to press demands for the country’s military rulers to step down.
