Bahrain inquiry condemns crackdown

Bahrain used torture and excessive force against people arrested in crackdowns on anti-government protests, an official inquiry has found.

Mahmoud Cherif Bassiouni, head of a special commission that investigated the troubles, looked at the harsh measures used against Shiite-led demonstrators seeking greater rights from Bahrain’s Sunni monarchy.
