Hijacker shooting ends Turkey ferry siege

Turkish security forces have shot dead a Kurdish rebel hijacker after he commandeered a ferry with 18 passengers on board, authorities said.

The hijacker had seized the Kartepe ferry after it set sail from the north-western port of Izmit on Wednesday evening with the aim of attracting media attention, authorities said.
