Berlusconi rejects resignation reports

Stocks recovered from early big losses today as Italy’s borrowing costs eased on mounting speculation that the Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi would soon resign.

However Mr Berlusconi immediately rejected reports that he was on the verge of quitting.
