Bahrain protesters tear-gassed

Security forces in Bahrain have fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse anti-government protesters demanding greater rights for the Gulf kingdom’s Shiite majority.

Witnesses say hundreds of protesters took to the streets of predominantly Shiite villages around the Bahraini capital Manama today. They were chanting slogans against the country’s Sunni monarchy.
