No charges for judge filmed lashing daughter with belt

US federal prosecutors have consulted with police and determined there was no federal offence in the video that shows a Texas judge lashing his teenage daughter with a belt.

US attorney's office spokeswoman Angela Dodge said that federal prosecutors who discussed the case of Aransas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams determined it was not a federal matter.

Officials already have said Mr Adams will not face state criminal charges because the statute of limitations has expired since the video was recorded in 2004.

Mr Adams' now-23-year-old daughter, Hillary Adams, posted the video online last week.

A state commission on judicial conduct and state child protective services are still investigating the case.

Neither of those investigations would lead to criminal charges.
