Cancer diagnosis for former Brazil president
Brazil’s former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will undergo chemotherapy for a cancerous tumour in his larynx.
The tumour was detected during an examination at Sao Paulo’s Sirio Libanes Hospital. Mr Silva, 66, will begin outpatient treatment in the coming week.
Oncologist Artur Katz, one of the doctors attending Mr Silva, said the former president was in “very good condition”. He said the tumour was not very big and Mr Silva’s chances of a full recovery were excellent.
