A prisoner who slashed Soham murderer Ian Huntley across the neck with a makeshift knife, leaving him with a gaping wound, is due to be sentenced today.

Damien Fowkes, who is 36 and from Northampton in England, is already serving a life sentence for armed robbery.

Yesterday, he admitted attempting to murder Huntley and the manslaughter of child killer Colin Hatch at another prison.
