Charges reduced for former Icelandic Prime Minister

A court has dismissed two of six charges against former Icelandic Prime Minister Geir Haarde, who is accused of failing to prevent the 2008 financial crisis in the nation.

The dismissed charges alleged that Haarde seriously neglected his duties in the face of grave danger to Iceland’s financial institutions, and that he failed to seize the initiative in conducting a governmental analysis of the financial risks.
