Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has told police he made a pass at a young author in 2003, but he denied allegations that he tried to rape Tristane Banon.

The 62-year-old socialist politician, who returned to France this month after the collapse of another rape investigation in New York, was interviewed by French police this week.

It is understood Strauss-Kahn conceded having made advances to Banon without being precise about the nature of the advances.
