EU Commissioner suggests deficit countries fly flags at half mast

MEPs in Strasbourg are demanding an apology following comments made about deficit countries by the EU Commissioner for Energy.

In an interview with a German newspaper Gunther Oettinger suggested that countries in deficit should fly their flags at half mast outside EU buildings.

A group of MEP's have now signed a letter urging the Commission to say sorry and retract his comments.
