Britain burns as violence spreads

British Prime Minister David Cameron has cut short his family holiday and returned home to chair a meeting of his government's emergency committee following a third night of violent rioting across the UK.

Fires were still burning in London this morning, where three people held on suspicion of the attempted murder of a police officer were among more than 300 arrested since the trouble began.
