Strauss-Kahn maid thanks supporters
The New York City hotel maid who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault has appeared in public to thank her supporters.
Nafissatou Diallo spoke today at a church cultural centre in Brooklyn.
It was her first public appearance since giving recent interviews to ABC TV and Newsweek.
The 32-year-old immigrant from Guinea says she and her daughter have been going through a lot in the last two months.
She says she wants to let people know that a lot of the things being said about her weren’t true.
Diallo and her lawyer met prosecutors on Wednesday, the first time since the Manhattan district attorney’s office publicly announced they had doubts about her credibility.
Strauss-Kahn is charged with attempted rape and other crimes. The former head of the International Monetary Fund denies Diallo’s accusations. His lawyers hope the case will be dropped.
