Thousands flee as Volcano erupts in Indonesia

Thousands of residents have been evacuated after a volcano in central Indonesia erupted, sending red-hot lava cascading down its slopes.

Towering clouds of hot ash and debris spiralled into the sky and and airlines travelling within six miles (10 kms) of the peak were told to fly around the zone.
