Chavez 'critical' after emergency surgery

Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez is said to be in a "critical" but stable condition, following emergency surgery in Cuba.

It is understood he was operated on for a pelvic abscess.

It has been reported that he should be out of hospital within the next two weeks.
