Three injured after Zimbabwe fuel truck crash
At least three people died after a gasoline truck overturned in Zimbabwe and burst into flames after people rushed to the vehicle to take the leaking petrol.
Fire department chief Savius Mugava told state radio today that the incident in southern Harare late on Saturday left corpses burned beyond recognition. He said nine people were treated in hospital and that more victims’ remains may still be found in the wreckage.
State radio said a crowd that gathered at the scene in an impoverished suburb where petrol shortages are common ignored pleas by the truck driver not to siphon spilling petrol into containers.
