Scientists create nerve cells from human skin

Swedish scientists have succeeded in creating nerve cells from human skin for the first time.

Medical researchers at Lund University found that skin cells are unexpectedly open to instruction and managed to mutate them to neurons without the use of stem cells.

The breakthrough could eliminate the controversial need to use stem cells in treating people with Parkinson's disease and stroke sufferers.
