Woman and child killed in Essex shooting

A woman and child have been found dead following a firearms incident in Britain early today.

Essex Police said a man was under guard in hospital following the shootings at an address in Bartram Avenue, Braintree.

A police spokeswoman said the incident was being treated as a double murder.

She said police were not searching for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Officers were called to the address shortly before 3am.
