Girl dies in Ferris wheel fall
A 11-year-old girl has died after falling from a Ferris wheel.
The accident happened on the Wildwood boardwalk in New Jersey.
Captain Lynn Frane, of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed the teenager died of her injuries after being taken to hospital.
Wildwood Police Captain Robert Regalbuto told The Press of Atlantic City the ride was in motion at the time, and the girl fell from its upper half.
The incident happened at 12.30pm local time at Morey’s Mariner’s Landing Pier.
Morey’s said in a statement that the cause of the accident was being investigated but did not appear to be mechanical. Meanwhile, the Ferris wheel and a few other rides were closed.
“The Morey staff and family offer our thoughts and prayers to the family,” the statement said.
