Troops shell Syrian town

Government troops continued to pound a Syrian town today as the death toll from the shelling rose to 41.

The Local Co-ordination Committees in Syria, which helps organise and document the country’s protests, said the shelling of Rastan killed several members of the same family when a shell hit a house early Thursday. Mosques and a major bakery were also damaged.
