Pakistan has ordered an investigation into how Osama bin Laden was able to live in the garrison city of Abbottabad undetected.

Yusuf Raza Gilani has addressed the Pakistani Parliament in his first statement on the May 1 operation by US forces, which led to the death of the al-Qaida leader.

He told the country's parliament that allegations Pakistan was complicit in hiding Osama Bin Laden are "absurd".

It comes after mounting pressure from Washington and Opposition members over how Bin Laden could have been "hiding in plain sight" less than a mile from a top military academy for up to five years.
