Portugal's hospital and refuse collections hit by strike

Portugal's hospital services and refuse collections have been hit by coordinated strike action.

Public sector workers are protesting against austerity measures which are part of the country's €79bn bailout.

The Portuguese government is freezing pay, raising taxes and cutting welfare benefits in return for the rescue package from other EU members and the International Monetary Fund.
