Seven killed in Iraq suicide blast
A suicide bomber blew himself up near an Iraqi army checkpoint in the northern city of Mosul, killing seven people, according to officials.
Police and medical officials said 16 people were injured. Four of the dead were Iraqi soldiers.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak to the media.
Iraqi security at checkpoints or on patrols are often targeted by Sunni insurgents who see them as collaborators with the Shiite-led government.
