A key al-Qaida commander has been killed in a Nato air strike in Afghanistan, an alliance spokesman said today.

The international military coalition identified the victim as Abu Hafs al-Najdi, also known as Abdul Ghani, and said he died in the strike in Kunar province on April 13.
