A 7.0-magnitude earthquake has hit north-eastern Burma, reports say.

A 7.0-magnitude earthquake has hit north-eastern Burma, reports say.

The quake struck near the borders with Thailand and Laos, about 70 miles (110 kilometres) from the northern Thai city of Chiang Rai.

It struck at a depth of 140 miles (230 kms) – exceptionally deep, but it could be felt as far away as Bangkok, where buildings swayed.
