Austria freezes Gaddafi assets

Austria’s National Bank has ordered the freezing of assets belonging to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and his entourage in line with EU sanctions.

The bank said about €1.2bn Libyan deposits are currently in Austrian financial institutions but that it is still unclear if and how much of this money belongs to the Gaddafi family and their allies.
