A Mexican teenager has gone on hunger strike in a bid to get an invitation to the upcoming British wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Estibalis Chavez, a 19-year-old high school student, has been camping outside the British embassy in Mexico City for nine days.

Describing herself as a “royalty fan”, she said she hoped for an invitation to the wedding of the year at Westminster Abbey.

The embassy said Buckingham Palace “regrets that there are no more spots available”.

But Miss Chavez says she believes that if the bride and groom hear of her effort, they will invite her to the wedding.

She is not alone - report today suggest that Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson may also have been left off the invite list.
