After 257 days in a locked steel capsule, an international crew on a mock trip to Mars is preparing to simulate landing on the Red Planet.

After 257 days in a locked steel capsule, an international crew on a mock trip to Mars is preparing to simulate landing on the Red Planet.

The six researchers entered the capsule at a Moscow research centre last June to imitate the 520-day flight.

Its aim is to see whether it is possible to cope in such circumstances.

Three of them are to don space suits to perform the mock landing.
