Death toll rises to 16 in Afghan attacks
The governor’s office of Kandahar province said today that the death toll has risen to 16 in a Taliban attack on the police headquarters in southern Afghanistan.
The assailants were wearing explosives vests and were armed with automatic rifles and rocket-propelled grenades.
Car bombs were also detonated during today’s assault. The governor’s spokesman, Zalmai Ayubi, said one civilian was among those killed; the rest were Afghan policemen.
