Obama to lead silent tribute

US President Barack Obama will lead the nation in a moment of silence today to honour the Arizona congresswoman who was critically wounded and the others who were killed or injured in a shooting rampage in Tucson.

Mr Obama said the tribute will bring the nation together in prayer or reflection while keeping Republican Gabrielle Giffords and the other victims and their families close at heart.
