Iraqi family killed by gunmen
Gunmen shot dead a family of five in a pre-dawn attack on a home outside Baghdad.
The shooting took place in the town of Hussainya, some 15 miles north east of Baghdad, a police official said. Two parents and three of their teenage children were killed in the attack, while a two-year-old toddler survived.
The motive for the attack was not immediately clear, although police said the father worked for the Electricity Ministry. Insurgents increasingly have targeted government employees.
Meanwhile, a parked car bomb blew up in front of a house in Nasiriyah, about 200 miles south of Baghdad, killing two people and wounding two more, including an eight-year-old boy.
The victims were all from the same family, officials said. Local police did not know why the house was targeted.
