Bar and restaurant owners in Spain fear a ban on smoking in public places will worsen the country's economic crisis.

The ban, which came into effect at midnight, stops smoking in all closed public spaces, as well as open spaces including children's play areas and outside hospitals.

A group which represents Spain's hotels, restaurants and cafes fears the new law could lead to the loss of up to 350,000 jobs in the hospitality sector.
