The explosion at the Swiss embassy occurred when the package was opened by an embassy staffer who was injured and taken to the hospital, news agencies reported.

The employee suffered serious injuries to his hands.

A second package exploded at Chile’s embassy in the city inuring one person, the ANSA news agency said.

No further details were immediately available.
